Saving The Superhero is a project that looks at the idea of the Hero, how we imagine ourselves to be heroes, and how we can run into trouble when this is taken to an extreme. This “hero mentality” can be useful and take our talents and abilities to the “next level,” or it can deplete us of energy and have us feeling like we are the only ones left to “save the day.” Using movies, books, comics, and other media, Saving The Superhero will explore why this is and provide examples and suggestions for personalized solutions.
I am currently interviewing people who have taken inspiration from fictional heroes, and those who might have even had a crisis as a result of always having to “saving the day” for their work or those they love. This is for a book-length project.
